Of all of the herbal remedies we offer, Kare~N~Liver is the only package which contains an equal blend of two different herbs. In these packets, Schisandra chinensis and Eleutherococcus senticosus work symbiotically to improve your health. Both of these herbs have their own benefits and positive effects on the body, yet when combined together they provide particular benefits to––you guessed it––the liver! How, you ask? Let’s talk about what Kare~N~Liver can do for you.
The first herb mentioned, Schisandra chinensis, is a powerful herb indeed. Virtually every Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine book written pays some respects or mention of this herb. In ancient medicine it was used from low energy levels to organ troubles. Schisandra is popularly known as the fruit of five flavors, due to the unique quality of the fruit containing flavors of sweet, pungent, salty, bitter, and sour. Because of this, you won’t typically find Schisandra being used in cookbooks. The taste isn’t particularly pleasant. The reason Schisandra has all of these different flavors is because of the chemical compounds contained inside the fruits, known as lignans. The three main lignans found in Schisandra are rightfully named Schisandrin A, B, and C.
The three lignans each have their own unique chemical structure, giving them each their own unique benefits. When they are all taken together, by consuming an extract or the berries themselves, Schisandra is known to assist the liver during excessive alcohol intake, increase energy levels, and support the immune system by fighting off free radicals and by positively modifying protein expression in cells. There’s even evidence that shows the compounds in Schisandra can even lower cytokine levels–– the body’s inflammation molecule! These are just a few of the benefits of Schisandra, since it is a top notch adaptogen. As you may know, adaptogens help the body adapt to and prevent stress. Even by just preventing stress, that’s preventing a whole lot of trouble and giving a whole lot of benefits!
As mentioned, our Kare~N~Liver contains more than just Schisandra. The second herb, Eleutherococcus senticosus, is an herb native to Eastern Asia. It is also commonly known as Siberian ginseng––but is not truly ginseng at all. They’re hardly even related! Siberian ginseng got its name when the Russians were looking for a locally grown alternative to classical ginseng that would boost performance in their Olympic athletes. They found this herb to be effective! The two main active compounds in Eleutherococcus are eleutheroside A and eleutheroside B, which both contribute to the benefits of the herb. Eleutherococcus shows evidence to boosting athletic performance and reducing fatigue, as well as helping the immune system for those who supplement it. Though Eleutherococcus was not mentioned as much as being an adaptogen in ancient ayurvedic writings, scientific evidence points towards it being one!
The combination of Schisandra and Eleutherococcus in our Kare~N~Liver act synergistically. The two of them together work even better together than if they were taken separately! This is why they are put together in one capsule. Our packages have the potential to boost not only your liver, but your overall health as well. Give them a try and see what these adaptogens can do for you!
